Logan County native Nigel Wallace has been elected as Marshall University’s 2015 Mr. Marshall.
Hailing from West Logan, Wallace is currently a senior double majoring in management and marketing.
Wallace was officially crowned at the Marshall homecoming game against the University of North Texas held Saturday, Oct. 24.
Isabelle Rogner was also crowned as Miss Marshall at the homecoming game.
While explaining the title of Mr. Marshall, Wallace stated, “I feel like I represent the face of the university.”
Wallace’s duties as Mr. Marshall have him attending the WVU vs. Marshall Capital Classic in Charleston as well as the kickoff of the Marshall University football season at the annual Marshall Paint the Capital Green Event.
The crown for the 2016 Mr. Marshall will also be presented by Wallace.
Wallace stated he hopes to use the platform his title provides to make a difference in communities throughout the area.
Wallace hopes to highlight his personal struggles and achievements to provide young people inspiration to achieve higher education.
“I’m looking forward to linking up with administrators, youth groups and teachers…to go back and relay a message of hope and opportunity to the youth. I’m going to let the kids know a little bit about myself. Tell them about my background and history ,and let them know that anything is possible. ” added Wallace.
Wallace added he hoped to start reaching out to children in the Tri-state area as soon as possible.
