City of Logan Mayor Serafino Nolletti and Amber Viars visited the Logan Rotary Club to update them on the 2015 Freedom Festival.
The pair exposed the building excitement surrounding this year’s festival that seems to continue growing ever year. “We know a lot of people aren’t getting to travel this year due to the economic downturn, so we like to provide events right here in downtown Logan for them to attend,” Nolletti told the Rotary Club.
All the main events that the festival are free to the public. Main events include the musical acts Georgia Satellites, Andy Griggs and Trick Pony. The festival also includes local talent Coal Fired Band, One Horse Town and Daddy Rabbit Band.
Fireworks will take place starting at 10 p.m. on July 4th from Water Tower Hill and Hospital Hill. Another popular program during the Freedom Festival is the Military Salute from the main stage. Viars told the Club this is one of the most popular events during the Festival that continues to grow, “The first year we ordered twenty metals to give to Veterans, last year we ordered two hundred metals. It’s really something to be seen.”
Nolletti and Viars stated they hope all can attend. Viars also encouraged Rotarians to consider donating to the event stating, “Every year, the Freedom Festival gets larger, but donations aren’t coming in like years before, so if you can, please donate to this wonderful festival.” To make donations, please contact Amber Viars at City Hall at 304-752-4044.
