LOGAN, W.Va. — Trooper First Class T.D. Boggs, with the West Virginia State Police, has been selected as The Logan Banner’s Officer of the Month for January.

Boggs, originally from Putnam County, has been stationed at the Logan Detachment for seven years. He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a graduate of West Virginia State College and the West Virginia State Police Academy.

Boggs said he has never considered another career.

“I’ve always wanted to be a trooper my whole life,” Boggs said.

In the summer of 2014, thieves took thousands of dollars worth of wiring and electronic devices used in the annual Christmas in the Park display at Chief Logan State Park. Boggs’ investigation led to the recovery of the items, allowing Christmas in the Park to reopen the following November without much setback.

Boggs’ said it made him feel good when he located the items.

“My stepson had put pressure on me to solve it,” Boggs said. “I was doing it for him and I knew how much it meant to the community.”
