Staff Report

CHARLESTON — The West Virginia International Auto Show is set to take over the city with hundreds of new model vehicles Friday Jan. 22 through Sunday Jan. 24. Follow the highway carpet through the Charleston Civic Center for an up-close look at the latest cars, crossovers, SUVs, trucks and all that is new in the automotive world. From Jeep to Jaguar, the auto show will feature the latest options in showrooms, as well as test drives, alternative fuel options, fun for the little ones and more!

“From innovative safety features to savvy new connectivity options, manufacturers have an abundance to showcase this year including Apple CarPlay,” said West Virginia Automobile and Truck Dealers Association President Ruth Lemmon. “Gas prices are down and trucks are hot including the new Ford Super Duty, Nissan Titan XD, Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado. The auto show is the perfect place to learn about all that is new and check options from more than 27 manufacturers.”

For three days, the auto show will transform the civic center into an auto mecca offering consumers the chance to compare hundreds of new models side by side, all under one roof. It’s a place for attendees to sit in the driver’s seats, inspect engines, kick tires, count cup holders, check trunk space, test drive vehicles and take in that new car smell. New 2016 models set to turn heads on the show floor include the Honda Civic Sedan, Buick Cascada, Chevrolet Camaro, Subaru WRX, Volvo XC90 and more. Showgoers looking for luxury should head to the Luxury Loft for the latest high-end options from Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Lexus and Lincoln.

Go green at the auto show and learn about the variety of fuel savings options available to drivers! From gas-electric hybrids to plug-in electric vehicles, the auto show is the place to ask questions about the latest alternative fuel choices including the Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle; hybrid-electric Chevrolet Volt; plug-in electric Mitsubishu i-MiEV; plug-in hybrid Ford CMAX Energi; and several hybrid options.

Drivers are invited to take their auto show experience from the show floor to the road! Get behind the wheel of an all-new Ford Explorer, Edge, Focus and Fusion, at the Ford Go Further Ride & Drive all show days, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, the Toyota Drive Center will have the Toyota Camry, Highlander, RAV4 and Tacoma available for test drives Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Everyone is invited to enjoy an up close encounter with a West Virginia State Police Ford Taurus and Ford Explorer and even talk with law enforcement officers, at the auto show. Check out this unique display all show days, courtesy of the West Virginia State Police.

A fan favorite, the Car Clubs of West Virginia Showcase returns to the auto show with a special collection of classic gems and vintage rides from all over the state. Don’t miss these timeless treasures, courtesy of West Virginia Motorsports Council.
