Logan County native 11 year old Nick Knox was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) April 28, 2015.
Since Nick’s diagnosis, the costs associated with fighting his cancer continually progressed, and in June 2015, the first of many basketball tournaments designed as fundraisers for the Knox family was held producing around $1,300 to help Nick’s cause.
Two more charity basketball tournaments were held for the Knox family in August and October of 2015.
Recently Nick and his family moved to Crosslanes, W.Va. where Nick is home-schooled from Crosslanes Elementary.
Nick receives weekly chemotherapy treatments as well as monthly bone marrow checks and blood transfusions.
Nick will continue chemotherapy treatments for more than two years.
With the goal of raising money to allay the continued costs around Nick’s treatment, a Hoops For Nick Streetball Tournament has been organized for March 19, 2016 at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club in Charleston, W.Va located at 301 Tennessee Avenue.
The tournament’s winning team will get to face office in the grand finale against the famous And 1 Streetball Kings basketball team.
Sirius/XM’s DJ Formula will serve as a special guest celebrity DJ for the event.
Entry fees for teams have been set at $150.
Anyone interested in playing in the event can contact Nick’s mother, Lovarsha Knox by email at [email protected] or by phone at 304-419-6974.
