2 businesses cited for selling alcohol to minors

Staff Report

LOGAN, W.Va. — On Friday, February 12, the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration, along with the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, conducted underage compliance checks in Logan County.

Due to time and weather conditions only 19 establishments in the county were visited. Out of the 19 that were visited, two establishments sold to an underage person. Those establishments were given citations as a result.

“I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the Logan Sheriff’s Department that complied during the checks for ensuring that underage minors are not being served alcohol,” Sheriff Sonya M. Dingess Porter said.

Porter said more compliance checks will be taking place in the future.

This endeavor was funded by the West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Program.
