Hit and run in Chapmanville

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — A Logan County man is reportedly in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle on U.S. Rt. 119 near Chapmanville.

A motorist traveling south on Rt. 119 reportedly called 911 in the late night hours of Feb. 28 to report seeing a suspicious male near the four-lane.

Corporal L. Preece, with the Chapmanville Police Department, was reportedly on scene shortly after midnight, and discovered a male (Donald Blankenship) sitting on the shoulder of Rt. 119.

Preece reports Blankenship had multiple injuries primarily to his face, head and leg.

In an attempt to stop bleeding from Mr. Blankenship’s head, Preece reports he administered first aid.

After Blankenship had been transported from the scene of the accident by EMS, Preece discovered a passenger side view mirror.

Officer’s with the Chapmanville City Police Department believe the mirror to belong on a 99-03 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Officers believe the vehicle will have damage to the passenger side, including at least one passenger side window broken out.
