Missing elderly couple located at Harts

Harrison J. and Roseann Duty of Sharples were located Tuesday afternoon in the Harts area. The couple was last seen Sunday afternoon in the Madison area where they reportedly had go to get something eat.


SHARPLES, W.Va. – According to officials from the Logan Detachment of the West Virginia State Police (WVSP), a missing elderly couple from Sharples was located Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers report that Harrison and Rose Ann Duty were located around noon on Heartland Haul Road in the Harts Creek area of Logan County.

According to officials, the couple was located in a mudhole. Troopers report that the couple is alive. An ambulance was sent to transport the couple to the Logan Regional Medical Center for further examination.

On Monday, a silver alert was issued for the missing couple.

Harrison Duty, 77, and Roseann Duty, 75, were last seen about 4 p.m. Sunday in the Madison area, where they had gone to get something to eat, State Police Sgt. Andy Perdue said.

Roseann Duty has a heart condition and Harrison Duty has dementia, a W.Va. State Police spokesman said. Troopers had requested that the public be on the look out for the couple’s blue Ford Fiesta and, if seen, to contact the Logan Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Troopers did not suspected foul play, however, they were concerned because of the couple’s medical issues.
