GILBERT – Local Civitas Media Managing Editor Kyle Lovern announced today that Kendra Mahon has joined the Mountain District Group as a reporter. Mahon will be working for the Gilbert Times and the Williamson Daily News.
Mahon lives in Pike County, Ky. and has lived in the Tug Valley all of her life. She grew up in the Stone, Ky. and Blackberry Creek areas and graduated from Belfry High School.
Mahon also attended the University of Kentucky, Pikeville College and SWVCTC.
She is married to Darick Mahon and between them they have six children – Heath, Chris, Meagan, Carrigan, Garrett and Daulton.
The majority of her work career has been in the medical and educational fields.
“I am so excited to have been given this opportunity to start a journey into the journalism field,” Mahon said. “I am looking forward to getting to know the residents, business owners and the community leaders of the town of Gilbert.”
“We are pleased to have Kendra join our team of reporters,” Lovern said. “We feel she can be a real asset to our team. Her experience and local connections is a plus for our newspapers.”
Mahon will primarily cover the Gilbert and Matewan areas, but will also help cover Pike County, Ky. and other areas in the Tug Valley when needed.
