The Verdunville Volunteer Fire Department (VVFD) and the Verdunville Church of God are currently planning to host a Community Fun Day in Verdunville July 30.
The event will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Verdunville Church of God and will feature live music, the VVFD mascot Sparky the Dog, inflatables, a dunking booth and several safety training stations.
Attendees will have a chance to dunk the chief for one dollar a ball or five balls for three dollars.
Hotdogs and chips will be provided for free; however, bottled water and soda will be available to purchase.
Giovanni’s of Logan will be setup selling Bill’s Lemonade.
Several safety stations are also set to provide some basic fire training to local residents at the event.
Attendees will be able to learn how to properly use a fire extinguisher, how to install a smoke detector and sign up for a CPR class.
The VVFD will also be recruiting new members at the event.
All proceeds will go to the VVFD’s Christmas gift program known as Responding with Santa.
VVFD chief Windell Hunter explained, “We did responding with Santa for the first time last year, and we invite we everyone to come to the Community Fun Day at Verdunville Church of God and help us keep it going this year.”
During Christmas 2015, the VVFD and the Cora Fire Department delivered around 500 gifts for the Responding with Santa Program and added more than 60 pairs of shoes for their Kicks for Kids initiative.
Hunter noted, “This program would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our membership and assistance from the Verdunville Church of God.”
