PEACH CREEK, W.Va. — On Saturday, July 9, at approximately 10:45 a.m., Logan County 911 sent out a dispatch to deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department on a report of shots fired near Peach Creek.
Upon their arrival, deputies reporteldy found the first victim, Brittney Richardson, lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to the upper thigh.
Deputies note that Richardson was conscious at this time and stated that she had been shot by Mack Brumfield, 21 , of Peach Creek.
Brumfield also reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, and was transported to the Logan Regional Medical Centered where he was treated and released.
Brumfield was arrested upon his release for malicious wounding and is currently housed at the South Western Regional Jail.
Richardson was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General where she was listed in critical but stable condition.
A third shooting victim, Carlos Jenkins received a minor wound to the chin but refused any treatment.
A second suspect was arrested by the name of Anthony Whigham, 33 years of age from Detroit, Michigan.
Whigham was the driver of the vehicle in which Richardson and Jenkins were riding. When they approached Peach Creek, gunfire was allegedly exchanged between Whigham and Brumfield.
Whigham was also charged with malicious wounding and is housed at the South Western Regional Jail.
This investigation is ongoing by the Logan County Sheriff’s department.
