“Addams Family” coming soon

Director of “The Addams Family,” Bill France gave The Logan Banner a sneak peek at a few of the props and set pieces for the upcoming show. Performances of “The Addams Family” will be staged July 28, 29, 30 and 31 and August 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater.

LOGAN — The Aracoma Story Inc. will stage two weeks of performances of “The Addams Family” at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater in Chief Logan State Park.

The show, which is based on the long-syndicated television program and a series of successful movies, is a musical comedy that recently had a stint on the Great White Way and a national tour.

“The Addams Family” director, Bill France explained the show by saying, “It is not the t.v. show, it is not the movie, but there are a lot of references to that kind of stuff in it. This is when the kids have grown up and become teenagers, and the parents are now dealing with things like crow’s feet and getting older and those types of issues.”

France went on explain how the production originally had teething problems while it was on Broadway; however, as the show toured the country, several successful changes were made to the script that brought the show together.

France gave a peek at the plot of the show by saying, “It plays like an episode of the old t.v. show…only they’ve grown up. Wednesday Addams…is head over heals in love as a teenage girl with a young man, and he’s normal. He’s from the normal world and has normal parents. That’s where the problems come. The families are going to meet. They bring over the normal family to the Addams mansion, and that’s where all the chaos ensues. They get to experience these weirdos.”

The cast and crew of “The Addams Family” will stage performances July 28, 29, 30 and 31 and August 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater in Chief Logan State Park.
