LOGAN, W.Va. — The City of Logan will hold a soft opening of their free Family Movie Night tonight, August 26, in Downtown Logan. The movie, Finding Nemo, will begin at dark on the State Office Building lot across from the Hot Cup.
Logan Mayor Serafino Nolletti said employees of the city have worked several months preparing for the movie night.
“We were hoping to have started a little bit sooner, but it took a little bit of time to get the screen and projector ordered,” Nolletti said.
Nolletti said Friday night’s movie will be a soft opening to the official kickoff.
“Friday night, Sept. 2, during the Woods and Water Festival will be the official kickoff,” Nolletti said.
The movie will be shown on the lot adjacent to the West Virginia State Office building.
“For those who don’t know, it the former Aracoma Hotel lot, owned by Mike Ferrell,” Nolletti said. “Mike has graciously approved for us to use his lot.”
Nolletti said Logan tries to find entertainment that is family friendly.
“We’ve tried to find good family events to bring family together for good entertainment,” Nolletti said. “We want everyone to come out and have a good time.
City officials recommend you bring a chair and blankets since the movie is shown outdoors.
Nolletti said they hope to continue the free movie night through the fall season.
