CHARLESTON — Governor Earl Ray Tomblin expressed “disappointment” Wednesday regarding the drug-related arrest of his brother, Carl David Tomblin, 50, of Chapmanville.
Carl Tomblin was formally charged with illegal drug distribution by U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.
Goodwin said Carl Tomblin “distributed oxymorphine, a powerful painkiller often sold under the brand name Opana.”
The U.S. 119 task force and WV state police conducted the investigation leading to Carl Tomblin’s arrest.
Goodwin filed the information, normally indicating the person named has agreed to plead guilty, in federal district court.
Gov. Tomblin added, “Today is a very difficult day for me and my family. I thank you for your prayers during this challenging time.”
