BSA converge at Camp Chief Logan

9 months 18 days 21 hours ago |1706 Views | | | Email | Print

More than 100 Scouts and adult volunteers converged on Camp Chief Logan near Chapmanville this past weekend. Heavy rains didn’t slow them down either as Scouts got a first hand look at predator trapping, dog training and archery deer hunting presentations made by adult volunteers. Hands-on time was allowed for supervised trap shooting, fishing and 22-rifle target practice. A busy and varied weekend was had by all hands not to mention the usual fun, camaraderie and, at times, bad cooking and pranks that go hand-in-hand with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The local Scout Camp is part of BSA’s Buckskin Council and Chief Cornstalk District, the latter serving Logan, Boone and Mingo counties of West Virginia and Pike County, Ky. However, the District often hosts visitors from well beyond that range as demonstrated this past weekend.
