CHAPMANVILLE — Friday night is the night.

It’s the night of the 11-12-year-old State Little League baseball championship game at Chapmanville’s Tracy Vickers Field.

Game time is set for 6 p.m. at the home of the Chapmanville Little League.

The winners of Wednesday night’s two semifinals games between Milton/Bridgeport and Morgan County/Central Greenbrier are set to play in the finals.

Milton, the District 1 champion, advanced to the state semifinals with Tuesday’s 12-10 win over District 3 champion Hurricane. In Tuesday’s other game, Bridgeport, the District 5 winner, blanked District 5 runner-up Worthington/Parkersburg, 10-0. The game was stopped in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

Milton (2-1) finished second in Pool B. The Milton All-Stars opened pool play last Friday evening with a 10-0 win over Mullens at Tracy Vickers Field. Milton then lost 13-10 to Central Greenbrier.

Central Greenbrier (3-0) won Pool B, also downing the Mullens All-Stars 5-0.

Pool A runner-up Bridgeport (3-1), started off state play last Friday with an 8-1 win over Mountaineer. Then on Saturday, Bridgeport lost 9-4 to Martinsburg before coming back to rout Elkins 18-0 on Sunday to advance to the knockout round.

Semifinal round

Morgan County’s opponent was unclear as of presstime.

Bridgeport was leading Milton 10-1 in the first inning in Wednesday night’s other state semifinal. The game was then halted in the bottom of the first due to rain and lightning.

Bridgeport had scored 10 runs on 10 hits in the top of the first inning.

The game will be made up on Thursday at 7 p.m. with the championship game moved to Friday at 6 p.m. Since the game did not complete a single inning it will start at 0-0.
