Two women face charges after recent arrests.
The City of Logan Police Department, working with the West Virginia State Police, arrested. April Riffe, 37, of Logan, for allegedly soliciting an undercover West Virginia State Police officer. Riffe was arrested, arraigned and released on bond Thursday afternoon. City of Logan Police Chief E.K. Harper says investgations to rid the streets of prostitutes is ongoing.
A separate criminal complaint in the Magistrate Court of Logan County accuses Gloria Browning, 30, of Logan, with four counts of engaging in intercourse with an inmate and eight counts of aiding escape and other offenses relating to.
The complaint says that between the dates of April 4 and May 26, Browning engaged in sexual intercourse with an incarcerated inmate at the South Western Regional Jail (SWRJ) on four separate occasions. She is also accused of delivering tobacco to inmates that were incarcerated at SWRJ on at least six occasions between the dates of April 1 and May 30, 2013.
On at least two other occasions, Browning is accused of transporting black packages the inmate stated was tobacco.
Browning was employed at the SWRJ during this timeframe and was on duty while conducting this activity. Her bond was set at $5,000.
