CHARLESTON — Lincoln County Delegates Jeff Eldridge and Josh Barker has announced that a sizeable state grant has been approved to help the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.

“As representatives of Lincoln County, we appreciate how essential our law enforcement officers are to the quality of life here,” Barker said. “We want to ensure that they are properly equipped.”

The delegates said Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has approved a state grant of $10,000 for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department to purchase equipment.

“The people of Lincoln County count on our sheriff’s department, which provides a tremendous service on a tight budget,” Eldridge said. “We are proud to be of assistance.”

House Speaker Tim Miley said Barker, who was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Josh Stowers, wasted no time in stepping into his new role as delegate.

“Delegate Barker hit the ground running, showing great energy and interest in working on behalf of his constituents,” House Speaker Tim Miley said. “He has attended several interim committee meetings, and is conducting meetings at the local level to learn about the needs of his district.”

Noting that Eldridge is also a very dedicated representative, Speaker Miley said the two make a good team.

“Both Delegate Barker and Delegate Eldridge appreciate the importance of these state grants. In his years in the House of Delegates, Delegate Eldridge has been a tireless advocate for law enforcement, and I know Delegate Barker shares in that belief,” Miley said. “I think the two of them working together will be a great asset to the people of the 22nd District.”
