The Children’s Home Society of West Virginia and Logan WE CAN (Working to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect) Program, a non-profit organization program invites you to “A Standing Ovation!” The 20th Celebrity Waiter and Waitress Dinner and Auction, which will be held at the Chief Logan Conference Center, Thursday, November 7, 2013, at 6:30 p.m.

This annual event helps raise awareness and funding to assist chidren in area communities. An advisory board nominates local people to be celebrity waiters and waitresses. These servers encourage their friends and family to come to the dinner and sponsor tables to sit at and be served. The servers compete for tips and hope to win a trophy awarded to the top three.

This year’s program will include an auction conducted by Bob Noone and entertainment provided by Pianist Bob Thompson, who has a sound which is said to combine funk and jazz, bebop and the blues tradition. Thompson was born in Queens, New York and has been a jazz performer and educator based in West Virginia for more than fifty years.
