The Chapmanville Regional High School golf team traveled to Big Bend last Friday and competed well in the Capital City Classic.

The Tigers made a decent showing, taking 13th place out of 27 total teams.

William Copley led Chapmanville with a 78. He was followed closely by Jacob Workman with a 79. Forrest Roberts had a 91 and Jacob Blevins a 99.

“We did OK for this tournament, but to compete in the regionals with Poca, Scott and the rest of the group we must improve by 15 to 20 strokes. Our team score of 248 wasn’t terrible, but Poca (tournament winner) had a 218 and Scott a 247,” CRHS golf coach Tommy Kirk said.

Chapmanville’s next match is Tuesday afternoon vs. Sherman at the Riverview Country Club in Madison.
