CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Regional High School boys’ basketball team trounced Mount View, 62-33, on Friday night in the first round of the annual Bob Runyon Memorial Holiday Tournament at Chapmanville’s Danny Godby Gymnasium.
The win moved Chapmanville (5-0) into Saturday night’s finals against Riverside, which blew away Man, 90-40, in Friday night’s other opening round contest.
Man (2-1) was set to play Mount View in Saturday night’s tourney consolation game.
Chapmanville’s Josh Butcher, a transfer from Riverside High School, who was set to play against his old teammates in Saturday night’s Bob Runyon championship game, led the Tigers with 16 points against Mount View.
Kenny Plumley added 14 points for CRHS.
Brady Cox had nine points for the Tigers, while Trey Dalton had five, Jordan Whitt four and Trevor Nagy and Zac Casto had three each. Jon Williamson, Joe Tackett, Jordan Toler and Austin Kirk had two each.
Darrell Barnes led Mount View with 12 points.
The Tigers led 24-9 after one quarter, 38-11 at the half and 51-22 after three. Each team netted 11 points in the fourth period.
Man was led by John Thomas Keffer’s 18 points. Jake Adkins tallied 11 points.
Chapmanville returns to action this coming Friday night at home against Class AA sectional rival and Cardinal Conference foe Scott. Tip time is 7:30 p.m.
Man plays host to Greater Beckley Christian on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
