It was a big win for the Logan High School boys’ basketball team on Monday night as the Wildcats beat the Class A No. 4-ranked Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders, 68-60, at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena.


Logan improved to 9-11 on the season, while Greater Beckley Christian fell to 16-5.


The Wildcats were paced by Zak Miller’s 23 points. Trevor Abbott added 16 points, while Zac Acord had nine and Brynden Street seven.


Elisha Kidd tossed in a game-high 28 points for Greater Beckley Christian.


Logan led 20-9 after one quarter but fell behind 40-33 at the half as the Crusaders outscored the Cats 31-13 in the second and used a 14-0 run to grab the lead at the break.


LHS then outscored GBC 16-9 in the third to even it up at 49-all after three. Logan’s 19-11 edge in the fourth ended up being the difference.


Logan was scheduled to host Parkersburg on Tuesday night in the regular season home finale. The Wildcats are at Capital on Thursday night.


GIRLS


Mingo Central 64,


Wayne 34


CHAPMANVILLE — The Mingo Central girls’ basketball team advanced in the Class AA Region 4 Section 2 tournament at Chapmanville with a 64-34 win over Wayne at Danny Godby Gymnasium.


Tyshira Joplin tallied 15 points for Mingo Central. Ashley Curry scored 13.


Wayne was led by Emily Marsh’s 14 points.


Mingo Central plays No. 1 seed Scott on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the section semifinals at Logan. Chapmanville takes on Tolsia in the 8 p.m. nightcap.


The two winners advance to play in Friday night’s finals at 7 p.m. at Logan.
