Baseball season is not over just yet.
Although high school football practices began on Monday across the state, it’s still August and baseball is alive and kicking.
Logan High School’s Roger E. Gertz Field will be the site for this weekend’s inaugural Hit and Run Classic. This is a high school team travel ball tourney.
There will be seven teams in the tournament, including host Logan. Pool play is scheduled to begin on Saturday. On Sunday, it will be a single-elimination format for the championship.
Other teams in the tourney include: Riverside, Parkersburg South, Bridgeport, Point Pleasant, Pikeview and Greenup County, Ky.
Tickets are $5 for the entire day and you can leave and come back.
The action starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Logan-Riverside game.
Game 2 at noon has Parkersburg South taking on Riverside.
At 2 p.m., Point Pleasant plays Greenup County, Ky.
Then in Game 4 at 4 p.m., Point Pleasant squares off with Pikeview.
At 6 p.m., Pikeview battles with Greenup County.
The last game at 8 p.m. has Logan battling it out with Parkersburg South.
On Sunday, games are set to start at 9 a.m.
Each game has a two-hour time limit.
