It’s a new look for the Logan High School football team this fall.

Not only will the Wildcats have many new faces they will also have new uniforms.

Logan will still don the iconic Blue and Gold, of course.

The Wildcats, though, will have a different kind of color scheme.

Gone is the Vegas Gold or Notre Dame Gold the Wildcats have used for many years.

This season, Logan is unveiling brand new uniforms with the same shade of Navy Blue but with a more yellow type of gold color, similar to the color scheme of the Logan High School basketball team and other LHS athletic squads.

The sleek new uniforms have “Logan” printed on the front.

The team’s practice uniforms, unveiled this week, are very similar to the game uniforms.

Logan 11th-year head coach Gary Mullins said everyone seems to like the fresh new look.

“We’re trying to get back closer to the school colors,” he said. “We’ve phased out the Vegas Gold. “They want us all to look the same. We had to get new uniforms anyway so we thought that we could start with something new. It’s more of a yellow gold color. It looks really good together.”

New uniform designs, alternate jerseys, radical helmet logos and wild color schemes seem to be in vogue across college football, especially in recent years.

The Oregon Ducks are famous for their ever-changing, mix and match shades of green and gold.

Maybe Logan can follow suit.

“If our offense can be half as good as there’s we can use whatever uniform they give us,” Mullins joked.

Mullins said the team is also working on getting new helmet decals but isn’t sure if they will get them this season.

The Wildcats have played the last few seasons with just plain blue helmets.

Back in 2010 and in years before, Logan had a side profile Wildcat, the Kansas State University logo, on the helmets.

The Cats are scheduled to have their season opener on Aug. 29 at home against county rival Man.

Logan is set to have a preseason home scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 16 against Tug Valley, Paintsville (Ky.) and River View.

The Wildcats then travel the following Friday night to Wayne to finish off preseason action.
