‘Push outs’ leads to grand larceny charges

An anonymous call about “push outs” to the Logan area Walmart resulted in Grand and Petit Larceny charges to a Verdunville resident.

Brittany D. Marcum, 24, of Verdunville, was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny x2 and Petit Larceny x2 by the City of Logan Patrolman R. Adkins on September 19 from acts allegedly committed in August.

According to the criminal complaint, Walmart security received a phone call from an unidentified male who stated that Marcum had been “stealing from them. To watch the tape.”

An investigation of the security tapes showed Marcum pushing out shopping carts of merchandise on several occasion without paying.

On the four dates mentioned in the complaint, Marcum was seen taking shopping carts of merchandise valued at $1,120, $93.79, $749.68 and $1,009.02.

Marcum was released on a $7,500 bond.

In other court news:

• Terry David Jude, 51, of Lorado, was arrested and charged with domestic battery, domestic assault, obstructing, assault and driving suspended/revoked for non DUI on September 28 by West Virginia State Trooper J.K. Harris. He was released on a $3,500 bond.

• Elvis Fabian Adkins, 52, of Accoville, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene, left of center, no operators, and failure to render aid on September 28 by WVSP Tpr. J.K. Harris. He was released on a $2,000 bond.

• Roberta Lynn Watts, 33, of Delbarton, was arrested and charged with trespassing and destruction of property on September 30 by WVSP Tprs. M.A. Broadwater and J.E. Garren. She was released on a $600 bond.
