WILSONDALE, W.Va. — Armilda Browning Stroud Maynard, 89, of Wilsondale, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born October 21, 1920, in Wayne County, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Georgia Moore Browning. Also preceding her death was her first husband Harmon Toney Stroud, whom she was married to for seven years; her second husband, Ersell Maynard, whom she was married to for 57 years; one daughter, Sharon Lynn Maynard; brothers, Noah, Ossie, Arthur, Virgil, Cornelius and Carl Browning, and sisters Vada Browning Frazier and Leuria Browning Caldwell.
Armilda was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Beech Grove United Baptist Church for 45 years.
Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Kenny (Dottie) Stroud of Barboursville, and Sid (Magaline) Stroud of Dingess; daughters, Georgia Lee Stroud (William “Bill”) Maynard of Dunlow and Sharol J. Maynard (Dallas) Meeks of Harts; grandchildren, Ersell (Lori) Maynard, Toney (Cassie) Stroud, Dewayne Stroud, Jimmy (Ethel) Stroud, Timmy (Yvonne) Stroud, Paul (Trish) Maynard and Michael (Libby) Maynard, and great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Ethan, Emily, Ashley, Krista, Jacob, Michael, Morgan, Kendra and Keira.
A special thanks to Dignity Hospice and sons-in-law, Dallas Meeks, and her buddy, Bill Maynard.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, at the Mt. Moriah United Baptist Church of East Fork of Twelve Pole with Elder Sid Stroud, Elder David Messer and Brother Donnie Gene Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the Joe Maynard Cemetery.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers and her great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. today at the church.
