HARTS, W.Va. — Arthur Tomblin, 70, of Harts, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at his residence following a short illness.

Born January 5, 1939, at Whirlwind of Harts, he was a son of the late Carlos and Ina Tomblin of Harts. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Opie and Kenneth Tomblin, and one sister, Hedy Adkins.

Arthur was a retired coal miner from Amherst Coal Co. and Jade Energy Coal Co., and had over 30 years of underground mining experience. He was a member of the UMWA. Arthur had a deep passion to study and hear God’s inspired word, and a strong love for his entire family. He enjoyed working in his garden and spending quiet time in the hills, working and meditating with God an his creation. He was a faithful and active member of the Hannah United Baptist Church. A light for all to see, a musician that played his guitar and shared his testimony for God’s glory.

Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of 26 years, Helena Tomblin; four daughters, Selina (Gene) Daugherty, Rhonda (Ralph) Smith, Anna Jean (William) Arthur and Dedra (Norman) Adams; one son, Matthew Tomblin; two grandsons, Samuel Wess Daugherty and Shane Arthur Smith; six sisters, Mildred Dalton, Joann McCloud, Sandra (Roger) Kirk and Kelly (Greg) Browning, all of Harts, Madgeline Mullins of Lodi, Ohio, and Geraldine (John) Wright of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Odie (Francis) Tomblin of Harts; a special sister-in-law, Peggy Tomblin of Orient, Ohio and host of special nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at the Honaker Funeral Home in Logan with Pastor P.J. Tomblin and Rev. Sherman Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Tomblin Family Cemetery at Harts.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home .
