An emergency evacuation drill that was originally set for Tuesday was postponed and rescheduled.
The drill will now occur on November 12 around 10 a.m., a press release issued by Logan County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Sonya Porter, who is also the department’s emergency coordinator.
“Please be advised that the emergency evacuation drill set for the Logan County Courthouse, Judicial Annex Building and the Family Court Building for Nov. 3, has been cancelled due to business requests,” the press release said. “Again, we are working closely with the Office of Emergency Services, the Logan City Fire Department and the Logan City Police Department on this event. We do anticipate blocking Main Street and Stratton Street down for a short period during this drill to allow for our first responders to respond to this event.”
Porter asked for people’s patience and assistance with the evacuation drill.
“We would also like to recommend that your business also work on such an emergency evacuation plan in case such an event would affect you,” Porter said in the release. “This event is to help assist us with ensuring the public’s and our employees’ safety.”
Anyone with questions can call Sgt. Porter at 304-792-8590.
