CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mr. Linnie Edward Burton, 50, of Brushy Fork of Chapmanville, departed this life Sunday, November 1, 2009, at his residence.

Born July 19, 1959, in Grundy, Va., he was a son of Virgil Burton Jr., and the late Maxine Adams Whitt.

Linnie enjoyed fishing, camping, playing ball, cooking on the grill and spending time with beloved close friends.

Additionally, those left to cherish his memory include his loving companion, Karen Burton of West Columbia; two daughters, Doris Ellen Burton of Catawba, N.C., and Alisha Marie Burton of West Columbia; one son, Linnie Virgil Burton of Chapmanville; one grandmother, Thelma Love Adams; four sisters, Marlene Burton (companion Tom Burton) of Catawba, Henrietta Butcher and Barbara Burton, both of Chapmanville, and Melinda Combs of Muncie, Ind.; three brothers; Nathan Lee Whitt and Ray Whitt (companion Tereasa Sumpter), both of Chapmanville and Timothy Burton (companion Mary Burton) of Garden City, Mich.; two grandchildren, Carmen and Shyanne Burton and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 6, at the Freeman Funeral Home at Chapmanville with Ministers Tiny Ellis and Ernie Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in Lynn Hollow Cemetery at Brushy Fork Road.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
