FALLING ROCK – The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ volleyball team is just one defeat from elimination in the Class AA sectional tourney.
The Lady Tigers split in two sectional tourney matches on Monday at Herbert Hoover as Chapmanville lost to Sissonville 3-1, then came back to beat Poca to advance.
Chapmanville (21-12) is scheduled to face host Herbert Hoover tonight at 6 p.m. in the double-elimination tourney.
Hoover is also 1-1 in sectional play, having beaten Poca 3-0 and having lost 3-2 to Sissonville.
The winner of the Chapmanville-Hoover match advances to play against Sissonville in the 7 p.m. finals. The loser of match will see its season come to a close.
Chapmanville, coached by first-year mentor Angie Willis, has already secured its first winning season in three years.
The Logan High School girls’ volleyball team is scheduled to see Class AAA sectional action tonight at 6 p.m. against St. Albans at George Washington High School.
Capital plays South Charleston in another sectional match tonight, while GW takes on the St. Albans/Logan winner.
The finals are set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
