WILLIAMSON — West Virginia journalist Kyle Lovern is at it again - putting together another fascinating book about eyewitness accounts of UFOs and strange encounters from the Appalachian region. His first book, Appalachian Case Study: UFO Sightings, Alien Encounters and Unexplained Phenomena, was a regional best seller and has became a cult favorite.

It took readers on an amazing journey of UFO exploration through the eyes of many down-to-earth people. Using his background in newspaper and radio, Lovern conducted interviews with various citizens about their unusual encounters and experiences.

The first book received several positive reviews, particularly within the UFO investigative community. Lovern was recently contacted by a producer from the History Channel. His books are starting to garner attention across the U.S.

He has continued extensive research on some famous cases and has written about several new eye witness accounts never before reported until now. Lovern’s work has enabled him to make contacts across the United States with others who have investigated this phenomena. In his first book he has an exclusive interview with nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman, who has written several books and has appeared on many news shows such as Larry King Live, and in documentaries discussing UFOs and the government cover-up.

Appalachian Case Study: UFO Sightings, Alien Encounters & Unexplained Phenomena - Volume 2 focuses on even more UFO sightings and strange phenomena in Appalachia.

“Although the first book focused solely on the Mountain State, his new project expands into the neighboring states such as Kentucky and Virginia, interviews with credible witnesses who have experienced some extremely unusual events they cannot fully explain,” says Keith Davis, owner of Woodland Press, LLC, who is the publisher of the books.

“The stories are absolutely fascinating,” Davis added. “There are many eerie accounts in both books. In Volume 2, several of the stories from this region, including sightings that occurred in Mingo and Logan Counties.”

Lovern is an award-winning journalist from southern West Virginia.

Having worked in nearly every aspect of the newspaper business, including as an editor, columnist, reporter and photographer. He has been recognized for both his writing and photography. Most recently, he was the recipient of First Place for an article titled “Mountain State Known for UFOs” and a Third Place award as a regular columnist for the W.Va. Standard in the 2008 West Virginia Press Association statewide newspaper contest.

His work has also been featured in such prestigious publications as Wild, Wonderful West Virginia Magazine, Golden Seal Magazine and Marshall (University) Magazine.

Already with two books published, he is already working on a third. Lovern say he continues to receive reports of more sightings.

Through his expertise is as a news reporter, he has also covered county and state sporting events and, for many years, served as a popular newspaper columnist in southern West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky, most recently with the West Virginia Standard Co. He has also worked in the radio media as a DJ and news/sports director.

Lovern was born and raised in rural Mingo County, West Virginia, in the small community of Nolan. He is a graduate of Williamson High School, Southern West Virginia Community College, and Bluefield State College.

As a young boy, and later as a teenager, Lovern personally witnessed UFOs and thus began his longtime interest in the subject. That interest led him to become a UFO researcher, investigator and author. He is especially interested in occurrences and sightings in his native Appalachian Mountains.

Lovern will be signing books at Borders book store at the Huntington Mall on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 12 noon to 2 p.m.

In the coming weeks he will have more book signing events in Huntington, Charleston, Tamarack (Beckley) and many other locations. The books are available at various book stores throughout the region or on-line at www.woodlandpress.com.
