Logan man fires shot at troopers

LOGAN – A Logan man fired a shot at West Virginia State Police (WVSP) troopers responding to a report of a suicidal individual.

On Dec. 4, 2012, at approximately 9:44 a.m., Troopers assigned to the Logan County Detachment of the WVSP responded to a report of a suicidal individual at 182 White’s Addition Road, near Route 44, in Logan County.

The press release from the WVSP says John Curtis Watkins, 24, fired one round from a .22 caliber pistol at the Troopers. Watkins was apprehended and charged with wanton endangerment. He was arraigned in Logan County Magistrate Court and lodged in the Southwestern Regional Jail.
