Proposed anti-gun legislation

Far too often our government leaders and lawmakers try to “fix” all our perceived problems in a particular area in one fell swoop, an approach that is actually flawed and impedes progress….

Now here we go again with proposed anti-gun legislation. The president unveiled a $500 million package that includes 23 executive orders but will also require action by Congress.

Some of the proposed changes make perfect sense — consistent background checks regardless of where a firearm is purchased and allowing schools to use federal grant funds for safety improvements. Others, including the ban on military-style assault rifles and magazine clips for them, need more review.

But lumping everything into a one-plan-fits-all approach makes it more difficult to accomplish anything because opponents of the changes will have far more opportunities to criticize.

A smarter approach would be incremental changes that can be addressed one at a time.

The end result would be better for government efficiency and better for the American people.

My, I am a member of the 99%, 99% of "We The People", we are the Government.

Clarify the 2nd Amendment shared a status.

Should Gun owners be required to have liability insurance?

Home owners insurance will probably cover a weapons (Gun) accident in the Home or on Property. The solution in question would be to treat a weapon that is produced with a serial number like an automobile with a Gun owners title that would be updated with any sale or change of owner. This would be mandated by Federal Law and processed by "The People" the State. After a certain manufactured date, possession of a untitled defined weapon would be a 1st degree misdemeanor, a second would be a 3rd degree felony and possession of multi untitled weapons would be a 3rd degree felony, first offense. A tax on each transaction of course would got to "The People" the State. Liability insurance would have to be proven with a background check on each sale or transfer. This can be done at an authorized FFL licensed dealer, for a fee of course. There is many possibilities in future Gun Safety Laws.

Freedom of Speech is a protected individual right. But, another individual has the right to sue another for Slander or Libel even thou the writer or speaker is declaring their Constitutional right under the 1st Amendment. I find that most anything is Paradoxal if viewed from the other side. That is why everybody has a "Point of View". Some that might not meet the so-called Norm. I am also a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment, I believe that any person has an inherent right to keep and bear Arms in the defense of one's self and their Family. But, it comes a time to get real. This is not one Nation under the NRA. The Gun right fringe has pervert our 2nd Amendment to where we have became a Gun Nut Nation. Enough is Enough, it is time for Gun Nut Control. Keep certain Guns out of the hands of the general public. Any Simi-automatic rifle or hand gun shall not be manufactured or imported from such and such date for public consumption. All legal firearms will be accompanied with a Title of ownership when purchased. If said firearm is sold or transferred, a new Title shall be made showing the sale or transfer to the new owner. This will be Federal Law executed by the State in which the sale or transfer is made. The NRA/Conservatives/Republicans/Chamber/Tories/ do not want a National data base, why not, if there was a National data base, those firearms used in a crime could be traced by to the previous owner. These Right-Wing groups are in-fact protecting the criminal use of these firearms. All Simi-automatic firearms owned before such of such date would be the property of the owner at that time. I would keep mine as collector items. these firearms could not be sold or transferred by law. Join me in common sense solutions for the safety of our Children.

Dear Jack, you're not going to stop criminals with a bunch of gun laws. It doesn't work. The "bad" guys have all the guns they want and will get more if they want to by breaking the law. That is why they are called "criminals." Our police, while they do a fine job, cannot protect us from all crime because there are not enough of them. They can't even enforce all the laws we do have. We need our guns to protect ourselves from criminals and one day, the way things are going, we might need them to protect ourselves from the government.
