Editor,

Many adults and children are now too ill to go to work or attend school. Whether it is from mild illnesses like a cold, strep throat, etc. to more serious conditions, they are staying home. They should be staying home.

If I were sick, I too would stay home. However, when I see them at the movie theater, playing in their yards or at the Friday night football games, it gives me pause. If you are too ill for school, you should be too ill for those activities as well. I am sure your doctor did not envision his instructions to include the former activities when he signed your doctor’s note.

For your own well-being, follow you doctor's instructions to stay home when you are sick. If you are able to engage in the above activities, come to school.

Thank you for this opportunity to vent my frustrations.
