CHAPMANVILLE — Chapmanville Regional High School’s Mackenzie Martin wrapped up a fantastic prep basketball career earlier this month.
Martin, a 6-foot-4 forward, closed out as Chapmanville’s all-time leading scorer with more than 1,500 points.
This season, Martin averaged nearly 20 points a game for Chapmanville, which lost 38-35 to Tolsia in the Class AA sectional tournament semifinals at Logan High School’s Willie Akers Arena. The Tigers, under first-year head coach Allan Hatcher, finished with a 14-10 record and enjoyed their fourth straight winning season.
Martin was honored on Wednesday as he was selected to the All-Cardinal Conference First Team by the league coaches.
Chapmanville 6-3 junior forward Kenny Plumley, who also had a good season for the Tigers, was voted Second-Team All-Conference.
Also named to the First Team were: Cody Morris of Herbert Hoover; Austin Banks of Mingo Central; Cam Cottrill and Noah Frampton of Poca; Matt Dolan of Scott; Zach Null of Sissonville; and Morgan Stacy of the Cardinal Conference champion Tolsia Rebels.
Named to the Second Team were: Joey Forbes of Herbert Hoover; Marquis Cunningham of Mingo Central; Matt Chandler of Poca; Trent Stowers of Sissonville; Brandon Clark and Terry Davis of Tolsia; and James Egnor of Wayne.
The Honorable Mention All-Conference selections were: Aaron Burdett of Herbert Hoover; Alex Lee of Mingo Central; Cam Morrison of Poca; Cody Brown of Scott; Austin Brewer of Tolsia; and Brett Justice of Wayne.
