Landau to perform at Keith Albee center

West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin presented Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. with the Artist of the Year at the Governor’s Arts Award held at the West Virginia Cultural Center in Charleston.

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. is scheduled to be in concert this week at the historic Keith Albee Performing Arts Center in Huntington.

Landau will be doing a benefit show for the Cabell-Wayne Coalition of Rotary Clubs. Proceeds from the benefit concert will benefit the Golden Girls Group Home and other local organizations.

Since his win, he has released his first album, “That’s Life,” which features such legendary Frank Sinatra classics as “My Way” and “Fly Me to the Moon.” Landau and his 16-piece Sweet Lippz Big Band also have performed before sold-out audiences across the country. His 2012 tour will take him to the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York City in April, and to appearances at the California and West Virginia state fairs this summer.

Landau has been honored with many prestigious awards. Recently he was the recipient of two awards; The Artist of the Year Award during the Governor’s Arts Awards for 2012 held at the West Virginia Cultural Center in March and at the Community Music Association’s second annual Arts Awards Dinner in Charleston.

Landau will perform at the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center Thursday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25, $40 and $55 and can be obtained at the Marshall Box Office at
