GARRETT FORK — A unidentified female had to be rescued from high water early Thursday morning when she drove her vehicle into flood waters on Garrett Fork. The road, along with many other roads in and around Logan County, became flooded following heavy rain that fell Thursday.
“I spoke with the crew that was down there and she apparently drove into the water and her car turned sideways on its side,” said Dave Maynard, Chief of Operations for LEASA. “One of the firemen from down at Chapmanville; they tied him off and he went in there and got her out.”
Maynard said that despite the amount of rain, there were no other major flooding incidents.
“It got pretty close, but I think we dodged the bullet on this one,” said Maynard. “We had high water all around and the road was blocked in several places but I don’t think it got in any houses.”
Students in several schools in Logan and Lincoln counties were closed early due to the road flooding.
