Patriot Coal seeks to break contract with union
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Patriot Coal is asking a U.S. bankruptcy judge to throw out the terms of the company’s existing contract with the United Mine Workers union. In a filing on Thursday, the St. Louis-based company also asked the judge to modify the health-care plan covering thousands of retired miners. CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia bill that would make failure to wear a seat belt a primary offense has passed the House Judiciary Committee on a 13-11 vote. The bill passed Tuesday would mean a driver could be pulled over for not wearing a seat belt. The bill passed Wednesday says that whenever possible, police should use a lineup with one real suspect and multiple decoy suspects.
