A very clear message
Editor, Thank you Logan County Democrats! You sent a very clear message to Obama and his greatest cheerleader, Nick Joe Rahall. If I were Nicky Joe, I’d be pretty nervous right now. It sure looks like southern WV democrats are hoping for big changes in Washington D. C., and where better to start than with a thirty year insider like Nick Joe. Obama and Nick Joe have preached to us for years about how we need to give them more of our money ...

Vote as you feel
Editor, Concerning Staff Writer Paul Adkins’ article of May 10, 2012, “Conservatives have field day with inmate’s success,” comprised many comments from national political and supposedly journalist voices, about the alternative choice of a Democrat Candidate for the office of President of the United States. One quote in particular by outgoing West Virginia GOP Chairman Mike Stuart, “Keith Judd’s performance is embarrassing for Obama and o...

Following the law
Editor, To the citizens of West Virginia: I am writing to correct misinformation which has been circulated in print and social media, relating to the appearance of a convicted felon, as a candidate for United States President, on the recent democratic primary ballot. I am concerned that because of misstatements and inaccuracies, the confidence of the electorate may have been shaken. The law is simple. The qualifications for President of...

In response
Editor, In response to the letter written by Shawn Higgins. Investors Business Daily. All West Virginians would do well to heed the letter and listen up. West Virginia is COAL. It’s the livelihood of thousands of families. If coal and coal mining is stopped, what will become of WV and other coal producing states? They will be no more. Think about it voters. Get out and vote!
Editor, With the election only a few short days away, I am writing this in the hopes that all who read this would make it a point to not only vote, but grab those who are eligible to do so and drive them to the polls as well. I make it no secret that I have aspirations of one day possibly seeking the position of Sheriff! Someone sitting in my position would normally be hoping that the worst applicant would win the 2012 election so it could ...

Vote intelligently and principally
Editor, As the election draws closer and citizens of our state go to the polls, it would be refreshing to have a major percentage of our citizenry begin to ask, “How should our elected officials govern?” Hopefully the citizens will elect men and women who will redefine their sphere as limited. We need more of our freedoms back and less civil government to rule our lives. May we again elect officials who will uphold the Constitution with...

Abandoned buildings, trash
Editor, I very much agree with Mike Robinson who wrote to you some time ago about abandoned buildings and home. They are dangerous to our health. You see a beautiful home and next to it is a shack that needs to be torn down. There is so much trash along the highway from Chapmanville to Logan. All the ditches are full of soda cans, potato chip bags and all kinds of papers. The people who throw away their trash has no respect for themselves...

Over paid funds?
Editor, My father is 88 years old and gets a Black Lung check every month. He called me Monday and said the Black Lung office that sends the checks told him they have been over paying him $131.25 since 1978. They now want him to pay them back to the year 1978. He is on a set income. When his wife died two years ago, they cut his Social Security check back a couple hundred dollars. I send money home to help him out. I am proud of him; he i...

Verdunville PO
Editor, We, the people of Verdunville/Mud Fork, want to know about our Verdunville Post Office. The flood happened March 15, 2012 and they have not cleaned up our post office nor attempted to open it. It is very inconvenient having to go to Mt Gay to the post office. There all kinds of traffic tie ups, which are very necessary, and it takes lots of time. Everybody is in a hurry these days, plus the high gas prices. We want our post offi...
