Leadership West Virginia began their second of eight leadership sessions of the year Wed., April 23, with a reception at the Museum in Chief Logan State Park. The session lasts through Fri., April 25.LWV is a statewide education and leadership development program affiliated with the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Supported by tuition and private and corporate contributions, the program aims to identify emerging leaders throughout West Virginia and enhance their knowledge of not only the challenges facing the state, but also of the diversity and the unique attributes that the Mountain State possesses.During their stay in Logan, the participants will learn more about the coal industry and manufacturing. Their itinerary looks a little like this:

Tomblin announces supplement funds for displaced miners

CHARLESTON — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced on April 24 that WorkForce West Virginia will receive supplemental funding in the amount of $ 5,639,376 in National Emergency Grant funds from the U. S. Department of Labor to continue providing services to workers affected by layoffs and mine closures occurring within West Virginia’s coal mining industry.
