Lady Billies drop to 0-2

The Man High School girls’ basketball team dropped to 0-2 on the season with Monday night’s narrow 42-40 loss on the road at Scott.

Man opened the season with a 57-25 loss at Lincoln County last Friday night.

Emily Foley scored a double-double for Scott with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Brooke Burns also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds as Scott improved to 3-0 on the season.

Chelsey Vance led the Lady Billies with 13 points.

Freshman Karissa Anderson and junior Morgan Muncy each tossed in seven points for Man. Senior Courtney Hinkle had six, while Allison Meade, Sarah Blevins and freshman Cierra Mosley had two each. Freshman Desiree Wise had one point.

Man was 8 of 14 from the free throw line. Scott made just 13 of 31 from the foul line.

Scott led 11-2 after one quarter, 24-14 at the half and 30-20 after three. The Lady Billies outscored the Lady Hawks 20-12 in the fourth put it was not enough.

Vance hit two 3-pointers for Man, while Anderson and Muncy had one each.

Man is scheduled to return to the hardwood on Wednesday at Chapmanville Regional in a 7 p.m. tip. Man then hosts Mingo Central in its home opener on Saturday at 7 p.m.
