LOGAN, W.Va. — Logan High School freshman David Early made one heck of a varsity debut last Friday night.
Early led Logan with a double-double as he had 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Wildcats’ season-opening 79-42 win at home over Scott at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena.
For his big game, he was named as the Logan Banner Player of the Week.
Logan jumped out to a 16-6 lead after one quarter against the Skyhawks and never looked back, leading 36-19 at the half and then surging to a 22-0 run in the third quarter to grab a commanding 65-27 edge after three.
Early electrified the crowd with thunderous slam dunk during the Wildcats’ big scoring spree in the third.
The Wildcats (1-0, 1-0) were scheduled to return to action with Tuesday night’s home game against Cardinal Conference opponent Herbert Hoover.
