WELCH, W.Va. — New Man High School head basketball coach T.J.Blevins made his debut on Tuesday night at Mount View where his young club was blown out, 100-70, by the Golden Knights.
Mount View held a 21-20 lead after the first period of play and then outscored the Billies 25-17 in the second stanza to take a 45-37 halftime lead.
The Golden Knights then put the game away in the third frame, outscoring Man 30-12 to take a commanding 75-49 advantage.
The View then put up 24 to the Billies’ 21 to hit the century mark and get a 100-70 lopsided win.
Man was led by Trey Whitt and Zack Cook. Whitt had 30 points and Cook scored 25. Michael Sorrell added five points while freshman Quentin Moody netted four. Cutler Workman and Matt Spaulding scored three points each.
The Golden Knights had nine players get into the scoring column, led by Jaquane Imes with 23 and Ellis Bryson with 22. DeMoni Edwards tallied 17, Latrell Harrison also had double digits with 10, while Steve Brown had nine, Elijah Collier seven, Marcus Ray five, Sidney George four and Joseph Hayes three.
Man was slated to host Lincoln County on Thursday night in its home opener. Man then plays at Oak Hill on Saturday night before traveling to River View on Tuesday night.
