The Logan High School girls’ basketball team had no trouble with Scott on Thursday night at Madison as the Lady Cats broke a two-game losing skid by hammering the Lady Hawks, 49-6.
Logan, 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the Cardinal Conference, jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the first quarter and held a commanding 22-4 halftime lead. A 15-2 third quarter by Logan then expanded the lead to 37-6. Logan then blanked Scott 12-0 in the fourth quarter to set the final score.
Eleven Lady Cats broke into the scorebooks, led by Ally Sipple, who led the way with 11 points.
Jazmyne Early tossed in seven and Kaileah Williams six points. Britney Welch, Julianna Carter, CeCe Knox and Beth Adkins had four points eaach.
Stevy Kirkland finished with three points and Alexis Perry, Zoe Browning and Haleigh Hughes all had two points each.
Brooke Burns, Dianna Birchfield and Chloe Older scored two points each for Scott, which was handed its first loss of the season. The Lady Hawks are 4-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Logan was scheduled to travel to East Fairmont on Saturday to take on Phillip Barbour in the Big 10/Cardinal Conference Shootout.
The Lady Cats then play at Wayne on Dec. 20 and will be off for Christmas break. The following game is Jan. 7 at Princeton. The next Logan home game is Jan. 9 vs. the Poca Dots.
MAN, W.Va. — The Man High School girls’ basketball team upped its record to 2-4 on the season with Friday night’s 41-34 win at home over Montcalm.
Man was scheduled to host Mount View on Friday night but no score was available.
The Lady Billies are now off for Christmas break and don’t return to the hardwood until Jan. 5 at home against Poca.
The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ basketball team won 66-49 at home over Sherman on Thursday night in a non-conference game.
Chapmanville (3-2) was led by Kara Browning’s 19 points. Abby Marcum tossed in 16 and Olivia Dalton 13.
Kaylee Blair had nine, Madison Webb seven and Lexi Martin two.
Dejah Busby netted 17 points to pace the Sherman Tide.
The Lady Tigers were slated to play Bridgeport on Saturday in the Big Ten/Cardinal Conference Challenge. CRHS then hosts Herbert Hoover on Tuesday night.
