The fledgling Man High School swimming team continues to make a splash in the pool as they competed in the Highlander Invitational Swim Meet held last Saturday at Marshall University’s Fitch Natatorium.

This was the largest meet the Aqua Billies have competed in to date as 19 teams were represented.

George Washington High School was the overall winner of the meet. The GW girls took first place and the GW boys tied for first with Hurricane.

The Man girls placed 12th, beating Fairland (Ohio), Beckley Woodrow Wilson, Huntington St. Joe, Nitro, Buffalo, Chapmanville Regional and Point Pleasant.

Man’s Dana Goodman placed sixth overall in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28:82. She also placed fifth in the 100-yard free with a time of 1:03.46. Both times are personal bests for Goodman.

The Man High School boys continue to swim well and make their presence known in the pool. Although they didn’t place in scoring positions this meet, each improved winning heats and dropping time.

Man’s Richie Caserta won his heat and set a new personal record in the 50-yard free with a time of 27:68. He also swam the 100-yard free with a time of 1:04.10, another personal best.

Teammate Chase Harvey swam the 50-yard free with a time of 28.42, winning his heat. He also won his heat in the 100-yard free with a time of 1:04.7, setting new personal bests for himself.

Man’s Nijule Sharp swam the 50-yard free with a time of 32:52, which won his heat and set a new personal best. He placed 15th, just outside of scoring range, in the 100-yard backstroke with a personal best time of 1:24.12.
