CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Chapmanville Regional High School’s 6-foot-3 junior guard Drew Williamson is off to a fine start to the 2016-17 prep basketball season.

In Chapmanville’s 72-54 loss to No. 1-ranked Fairmont Senior on Saturday in the Big Ten/Cardinal Conference Challenge at Robert C. Byrd High School in Clarksburg, Williamson tossed in 23 points.

Last Tuesday night, in the Tigers’ 66-55 Cardinal Conference opening win at Winfield, Williamson poured in 29 points and sank four 3-pointers.

For his efforts, Williamson has been named as the Logan Banner Player of the Week.

Chapmanville, 2-1 and ranked No. 6 in the state in the Class AA preseason poll, is scheduled to host Pikeview on Thursday night at 9 in the second game of the annual Bob Runyon Memorial Holiday Tournament at CRHS. Man takes on Mount View in the opener at 7 p.m.

Then on Friday night, the Tigers will face either Mount View or Man in the championship or consolation game.

The Tigers then head for Florida to take part in the Daytona Beach Classic at Daytona Beach, Fla., Dec. 27-29 over Christmas break.
