The Man High School boys’ basketball team will be taking part once again in this year’s Hatfield-McCoy Shootout at the Williamson Fieldhouse.
The Hillbillies, 0-7 on the season, is scheduled to play Scott on Jan. 21 at noon.
Man, which went back into the Class AA ranks this season, is a new 2A sectional opponent of Scott. Also in the sectional are Logan, Chapmanville, Lincoln County and Mingo Central.
The Billies played in last year’s Hatfield-McCoy Shootout, blasting Betsy Layne (Ky.), 88-53. Two years ago, Man lost 65-61 to Pike Central (Ky.) in the tournament.
This year’s Hatfield-McCoy Shootout is the 14th-annual event. This year, for the first time ever, it’s a two-day event.
The Shootout is presented by the Marcum Law Office.
Twelve games are set to be played with many of the contests matching West Virginia schools against Kentucky teams.
Host Mingo Central takes on Johnson Central (Ky.) on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. The Miners are currently 6-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state in Class AA. Tug Valley takes on Christian County (Ky.) on Jan. 20 at 9:30 p.m.
Mingo Central and Tug Valley will also see action on Jan. 21 as the Panthers play the Poca Dots at 7:30 p.m. and the Miners take on Belfry (Ky.) at 9 p.m. in the tournament finale.
