The Chapmanville 11-12-year-old Little League All-Stars are scheduled to open play in the state tournament this weekend.
Chapmanville, the District 2 runners-up, are slated to open the double-elimination state tourney against Capital Midwestern on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The state tournament is being held at Petersburg.
Pineville, the District 2 champions, are slated to open play on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against Central Greenbrier.
Chapmanville is in Pool B, while Pineville has been placed in Pool A.
If Chapmanville wins its opener it would play again on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of the Barboursville-Shady Spring game. If Chapmanville loses, it would play on Sunday at 7 p.m. against the Barboursville-Shady loser.
Jefferson plays Hedgesville on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the other first-round matchup in Pool B. Braxton County has a first-round bye and will play the Jefferson-Hedgesville winner on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The state tournament is scheduled to run until Tuesday or Wednesday, weather permitting.
In other Pool A opening-round games, Bridgeport takes on Milton on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Fairmont squares off with Mountaineer on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Pineville-Central Greenbrier winner takes on the winner of the Fairmont-Mountaineer game on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
Summersville received a first-round bye and is scheduled to take on the Bridgeport-Milton winner on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Pineville beat Chapmanville 14-4 recently in the District 2 championship game at the Madison Little League field.
Both teams advanced to state play.
Chapmanville closed out with a 4-2 district record.
Pineville scored three runs in the first, three in the second and two more in the third to win the district title.
Tanner Whitten led Pineville as he was 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Luke Laxton was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and one RBI. Blake Currell went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs knocked in.
Ty Dominic added a two-run double for Pineville, which pounded out 10 hits in the win and took advantage of 12 walks and a hit batter issued by Chapmanville’s five pitchers.
Brandon Simpson also had a hit for Pineville. Tommy Davis had one RBI.
Chapmanville was limited to five hits. Trey Pancake had a two-run double, while Evan Plumley had an RBI double. Ethan Stollings also doubled. J.D. Ferrell had an RBI single. Isaac Dixon added a double.
Jacob Riling was the starting and winning pitcher for Pineville.
