The Chapmanville Regional High School baseball team improved to 8-3 on the season with Tuesday afternoon’s 13-3 win at Williamson’s Lefty Hamilton Park over Ambassador Christian Academy.
CRHS made it a sweep over the Eagles.
Last last week, Chapmanville routed ACA 12-2 at Ted Ellis Field.
Both games were shortened due to the mercy rule.
The Tigers, ranked No. 5 in the state in Class AA, wasted no time in the game, plating five runs in the top of the first inning to take a 5-0 lead. After a three-spot in the second it was 8-0.
ACA then scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the second to trail 8-3.
Chapmanville then pushed three more runs across in the third and two in the fifth to make it 13-3.
The game was then halted after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Both teams had seven hits. The Eagles had two errors to none for CRHS.
Noah Dingess was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and one RBI for Chapmanville. Chris Bailey was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI.
Chase Berry was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Dylan Brown and Chaseton Ghee each had a hit and a run knocked in.
Adam Vance was the starting and winning pitcher for the Tigers. He went three innings and allowed three runs on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
Berry then fired the last two innings and fanned one.
Zack Samuel and Dylan McCormick had two hits each for the Eagles.
Tyler Lafferty was the starting and losing pitcher for ACA. He didn’t survive the first inning and gave up all five runs. McCormick, Casey Hurley and Samuel all pitched in relief.
The Tigers are scheduled to return to action with Thursday’s home game with Winfield. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
CRHS then hosts Class AAA Ripley on Friday at 5:30 and 3A Riverside on Saturday at 1 p.m.
