Abbott fires perfect game in Lady Cats’ win over Scott

Jaycee Abbott was perfect in Tuesday night’s win at Scott.

Abbott fired a perfect game within the pitching circle as the Logan High School softball team won 1-0 over the Lady Hawks at Scott’s Lick Creek Park home ballfield in Madison.

Abbott allowed no base-runners in the seven inning game and issued no walks.

Logan senior Allison Click scored the only run in the top of the sixth with a home run over the center field fence.

Logan, 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the Cardinal Conference, had a total of six hits with Steph Curry having two singles. Click and Sarah Noe had a single each and Chelsea Napier had a double.

The Lady Cats were scheduled to host Lincoln County on Wednesday night. Logan then has a return game with LCHS on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Hamlin. Logan hosts Westside on Friday at 5:30.

Man 8,

Mingo Central 0

Emilee Walker tossed a no-hitter as the Man High School softball team mercied Mingo Central, 8-0, in five innings on Tuesday night at Man.

Walker struck out 13 batters in the win as the Lady Billies improved to 14-2.

No further details were available on the game.

Man was slated to play at Scott on Wednesday. The Lady Billies host Lincoln County next Monday at 6 p.m.

Chapmanville 5,

Wayne 1

The Chapmanville Regional High School softball team won 5-1 at Wayne on Tuesday night, improving to 16-2 overall and 11-0 in the Cardinal Conference.

The Lady Tigers bounced back from Monday’s 2-1 loss at Man.

Charlee Mullins, a freshman, was the starting and winning pitcher for CRHS. Kenzie McCann then came on in relief to get the save.

“We’re just not hitting the ball right now,” Chapmanville coach Ronnie Ooten said. “We’re sort of in a slump. I just hope we can get it all together by sectional tournament time.”

No further details were available on the game.

The Lady Tigers were scheduled to host Mingo Central on Wednesday. Chapmanville then hosts Wyoming East on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and then host Herbert Hoover on Friday at 5:30 before hosting Nitro on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in a makeup doubleheader.
